This is the Frequently Asked Question page. The following information will help you understand who and what we are.
|
We are faith based missionaries who have been sent out from First Baptist Church in Louisa, Kentucky. Although we are Southern Baptists by denominational choice we are not supported by the Southern Baptist Convention in any way. Our support comes from individuals and churches that feel led to participate in God's work here in Romania.
Faith based missions is stepping out and trusting God to meet daily, weekly and monthly needs. 100% of all support received goes directly to the missionaries to be used for ministry and living expenses. Monthly accountability statements are made available by the missionaries and are available to anyone supporting us upon request.
The missionaries are David & Rody Maynard. David has a Master of Divinity degree in missions and church planting from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has spent years teaching discipleship materials and English as a Second Language, starting churches and mission pasturing. Rody has a B.A. degree and has taught ESL and worked with children and women's ministries for a number of years. Together they have over 35 years of ministry experience and it has been throughout those years that God has developed their character to meet their present calling.
We live and work in the northeastern corner of Romania in a small village named Schitu Duca about 20 miles from Iasi, Romania. Iasi is a large city with a population of around 400,000 people. With God's help and provision and the sweat and labor of many they have converted an old cattle slaughter house into what is now Faith Bible Training center (FBTC). The building now has several classrooms, two apartments (one for the missionaries and another for visiting teachers and short term mission teams) along with several bathroom and showers, two dorm rooms, a library, computer room and a cafeteria and kitchen.

| | SHORT TERM MISSION TRIPS: |
|
The cost depends on the time of year. Normally a flight from the U.S. ranges from $1000 to $1500. Flights on Austrian airlines bring you directly to Iasi, Romania where we then come and pick you up. You are about an hour from Schitu Duca from the airport. Flights coming into Bucharesti involve another 6-7 hour ride to Schitu Duca. We suggest around $15 a day for food plus any money for personal purchases you may make. You would stay at the training center located in Schitu Duca.
| | WHO'S INVITED |
|
We encourage church pastors to bring small teams of 4-5 people. We would encourage pastors to bring at least one church leader with them. We find that this works the best for what we do here. Activities can include teaching at the school at Schitu Duca (between October and May), working with various churches that we are involved in, small construction projects, women and children's ministry and involvement inchurch planting activities and training and evangelism.
Our goal is to try and provide you some insight into the real day to day life style of a working missionary on the field. We do not create things to do. You are plugged in to help us in our day to day activities. We will try as best to keep you updated before you get here on what you can expect to be involved in but flexibility is the key work on the mission field.
